Guess what???

You know that closed guard pass where they feed your arm under your body and hold it there? (I can explain further if you need me to.)

I just discovered quite by accident that you can pendulum sweep people when they do that!

Of course it was a whitebelt. But the theory is there. He wouldn't have been swept if he hadn't been so focused on holding onto my arm. But that's the whole point.

Ohhh, I will have to try that! Someone had me in that position once, and I didn't know what to do. Never had the time to contemplate about it! But yeah, thinking about it now (I'm at work), it definitely makes sense! Either you'll get the sweep or he'll probably let go of your hand.

Heh. Like. Will have to try to remember when I'm on the mats again and someone does that. They think they're so clever, having longer arms and all.

Wow I'm gonna have to try that. I've been trying to think of the counter to that for ages. If I know of a guy who likes to do that, I usually react first with a choke or something to make sure he has other stuff to think about. But sometimes they catch me by surprise and I'm stuck!

Thx for the tip. Will try this next time. :)

Especially if you can regrip them as they grip you so they can't ditch the grip to be able to base with their arm.... :)

Ack! I use that pass a lot, so I hope there isn't such a defense.

Intriguing!

I will have to pass this on to Kay~Ci. Most men "try" to use that pass on her. Maybe it's me but I see more men using wrist control when grappling with women than with men.
